FAQ

What is October 31st?

October 31st is a UK based online store that focuses on all things Halloween, alternative and spooky in general! Products we stock are from different suppliers and artists from all around the world, with an overall goal of bringing you Halloween 365 days a year.

What payments methods do you accept?

The store currently accepts payment via Card, Paypal and instalments via Klarna.

How much are postage costs and do you deliver worldwide?

Postage costs are calculated automatically based on total weight and size of your order. All items are sent via recorded delivery and postage costs start as little as £2.70 within the UK. International shipments are also sent via a tracked and signed for delivery.
Postage costs:
£4.20 for Royal Mail Small Parcel Tracked
£6.30 for Royal Mail Medium Parcel Tracked
If your parcel is a large/heavy order a courier cost will be charged which is £8.

JULY 2020: Since July 1st 2020 shipping costs to the USA have increased by up to 49%. This increase in cost is a mixture of increased costs from Royal Mail and also increased charges of international parcels being handled within the USA. This is completely out of my control and unfortunately cannot be lowered.

International orders may be subject to custom and import charges. Any charges involved will be at the expense of the receiver. October 31st does not cover the cost or refund these charges in the event that they are issued.

How can I return an item/order?

If you have received an order that you're not entirely happy with you can return your order/item within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. However please note that return postage costs are not refunded if the reason for return is due to changing your mind or if you ordered items in error. Only faulty orders, products received in error and also missing orders will have the postage costs refunded.

Any order where a product is missing or has arrived damaged will need to be reported within 14 days of being received so they can be looked into. If a product has arrived damaged, please provide a photograph of the damage when getting in touch. If you're contacting October 31st after 14 days of receiving your order, no refund or replacement will be given.

Returned items must be in their original un-opened packaging. As items cannot be re-packaged they will not be accepted for return if the packaging is destroyed. This does not apply to clothing items, although the original tags on any clothing product must still be attached to the product. For hygiene reasons socks cannot be returned if they have been worn. Face Masks are Non-refundable.

If you would like to return an order then please get in touch via contact@october31st.co.uk with the subject 'Order Return'. Please note international orders are not free to return due to the cost of returns, return postage is paid for at the customers expense.

Returned orders:

If an order is returned as it was either not collected from the delivery office after an attempt had been made or if you rejected the delivery at the door, you will not receive the postage costs refunded when it is returned to October 31st. This is due to the order being sent to the correct address but then not accepted by yourself and to avoid a small financial loss, postages costs are not refunded on these occasions.

Food:
Weather and mixed product warning: Although every effort will be made to ensure your product arrives to you in perfect condition, by purchasing a food product these will not be refunded if they are affected by hot weather, are broken (due to being a perishable product) or if purchased with other products that could affect the taste/smell this includes scented candles, air fresheners or incense.

Order forwarding: If you're placing an order which is being sent to a company which will then forward your order to another address (usually for international orders) then any damage or missing items will be the responsibility of the forwarding company. If you receive your order after it has been forwarded, you will need to contact the company that forwarded the order to you. No responsibility will be placed on October 31st when using these types of services.

I would like to stock my products in your store, can I?

If you have your own products or if you're a brand that would fit in great with October 31st then please do get in touch! I'm always on the hunt for new products and if you find us first, even better! Get in touch via contact@october31st.co.uk with the subject 'New Products' and I willl get back to you as soon as possible. Please also include as much information as possible in your email ie price lists etc.

My order arrived and the packaging looks re-used, why?

To cut down on the amount of waste, I try and re-use old boxes as much as possible. You might find that your parcel has a little tape or tear on the outside but your order is nice and safe on the inside. I would never send out an order if I didn't think the box would make it to you safely. If you receive an order and no longer need the packaging please also recycle or re-use the box yourself!

Can all items be sent worldwide?

Unfortunately not, some items are too large or too fragile to send as cheap as possible around the world. If this is the case the product will state this in the listing. If an order is placed for products that are marked as not shipped worldwide your order will unfortunately be refunded.

UK & International VAT rates.

Where you have requested delivery to a UK address, the price paid for the product will include VAT at the applicable rate, and the applicable amount of VAT will be shown on your email sales notification. If you have requested delivery to a non-UK address, the products will be zero-rated and not subject to UK VAT. VAT will be shown during checkout and on your invoice however the total amount charged for your order will not change and you will only pay the base price.

I need to get in touch, how can I?

If you can't find an answer to your question above then you can easily get in contact via contact@october31st.co.uk. October 31st also has a Facebook and Instagram account that you can send a message to as well. Links are found at the top of the Homepage.

Europe Orders:
As of July 1st 2021 all orders from Europe will be liable for VAT and Custom Charges. The previous €22 threshold no longer applies. If you are within Europe and place an order, it is your responsibility to pay the charges that occur for your order. October 31st is not liable for any VAT and Custom Charges. By placing an order you agree to pay for all charges when the parcel reaches your country. If you refuse and the order is returned, you will not be refunded for your postage costs and any charges that are issued by UK customs to October 31st will also be deducted from your refund.
